Feeling poorly. Back soon. I promise.

Don’t you think Kareena Kapoor looks lovely on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar India’s first issue? Love the dress! I much prefer the cover with just her and not her and Saif as they had originally planned. Anyone know how and where I can get my hands on a copy here in DC?
What do you think?

When you think of Google and their offices, what comes to your mind? The images that first pop in my thoughts are cluttered work stations, geeks, bulky monitors, wires, chaos and stress. Like the kind of place that has great benefits but a mad house to work in. Well, I couldn’t be further from the truth!
When I came across pictures of their Zurich office over at Rachel Mallon’s Dwellings and Decor, my jaw dropped like three floors.
ALERT! YOU MAY NEVER WANT TO GO BACK TO YOUR OWN OFFICES AFTER YOU SEE THESE!

Here I am dreaming of a window in my office or being able to work from my sunny home while Zooglers (Googlers in Zurich are referred to as Zooglers) have it all!
Informal meeting rooms. Large boards are everywhere to note ideas on – “because ideas don’t always come when seated in an office”. Stress busters like pool tables, massage chairs, library, slides, video games…! Wow! What a fun and creative work environment! The kind of place that oozes higher productivity levels.
The design cultivates an energized and inspiring work environment that is relaxed but focused, and buzzing with activities.
The concept of the communal areas relates directly to the project research conclusions and wider research that indicates relaxation to be crucial to innovation and stimulating original thought. Work and play are not mutually exclusive, or as Google puts it “it is possible to code and pass the puck at the same time”. Based on this concept Camenzind Evolution developed themed communal areas associated with sport and leisure, for example, an aquarium water lounge for relaxation and a games room to play billiards, table football and interactive video games. There is also an antiquethemed library and a massage spa to soothe any tight shoulder muscles. Most of these spaces also contain ‘micro kitchens’ offering the Zooglers a variety of drinks and snacks throughout the day. - earchitect
I had heard about relaxed work environments. You know cozy comfy rest areas, flat screens, big lunch rooms, – but I was so not ready for this. I am so envious!
What are your thoughts about work spaces and office environments? Do you think relaxed work environments like these lower or enhance productivity?
Thanks Rachel.

Have you heard about POSTSECRET? It has been around for a while. PostSecret is an on-going art project by Frank Warren where people mail in their secrets on a home made postcard. My brother in-law gifted me a copy last Christmas. Its interesting to read anonymously confessed secrets. Take a peek at the Post Secret Blog to know more. Books are available through Mochatini on Amazon.

Well, here we are wrapping up another productive week. A long weekend is ahead of us here in DC. Yipee! And how awesome is the fact that Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday? Which gives us a relaxed day of celebrating love with our sweethearts! Another yipee!
Don’t you find the mad dash home after work to make dinner reservations sort of a pain? I certainly do. This year for Valentine’s Day I am so not into the hassle of dealing with restaurant reservations, over-priced prefixed menus and over-crowded restaurants. Yes, yes I know it is a good excuse for a date with your honey and hard to resist the scrumptious menus, being waited on, no clean up…I get it. I did it. Now I’m so over it. And its not like you actually need an occasion to enjoy a Zagat recommendation. With the current economic uncertainty it goes without saying we all need some creative and wallet friendly ways to show our love. And I prefer intimate celebrations of love….cozy, unrestrained and private.
Romantic picnic in a vineyard, candlelight dinner (all courses home made and cooked together of course), rosé champagne, oysters, chocolate desserts, flowers, music, sweet nothings, laughter, lots of love and of course Mr. Mochatini. My perfect Valentine’s day date
A hopeless romantic – yep that’s me.
What are your plans for V-day?
Happy Valentine’s Day.

I received my last issue of Domino yesterday.
I am still so sad that I couldn’t open it till this morning. Glanced at it only briefly on metro ride into work.
Saw some great travel tips. I smiled when I saw the drawer of travel accessories. I recently created one too. I always pack at the last minute and have to go on hunting frenzies to find the basics. So I dedicated one clear box and put it in my carry on bag containing neck pillow, travel fleece aka banky (yes, I am one of those people) chargers, converters, extra camera batteries, mini cosmetics, passports, ids, and other travel stuff.
I also really liked the feature on “how to decorate in your 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s”. I promise to share all this and images with you soon.
When I find some time in the coming months I will try to compile a list of my favs from all the Domino issues.
Here is the farewell letter from the editors to all Domino readers. Sniff! Sniff!

Marking their tenth year, DwellStudio recently launched their new collection and added two striking new patterns: Linear and Collage.
Though their designs have a distinctly modern bent, DwellStudio believes firmly in honoring tradition. Their fabrics are crafted at one of Europe’s oldest mills using time-honored techniques and the latest technology.
And aren’t these bold and abstract patterns so refreshing? I love the black and white set in this first image. What do you think of the graphic patterns?

This year they also unveil a new hand-screened pillow collection – the ideal finishing touch to any room.

Hop over to their website to see more of their clean and sophisticated furnishings.

On my last trip to Denver, I spotted Kreiss. A family owned furniture, accessories and linen retailer. Their couches are so comfy! And what I wouldn’t do for that 4 poster bed! They have showrooms all across the country and some of their collections are available at select retailers worldwide.

Hope you had a good weekend. We were fortunate to have a warm and sunny weekend.
I decided to do some decorating in our master bathroom. I want my bathroom to have a spa like feeling to it. It even has a jacuzzi
and plenty of sunlight. I like to think of it as spot to unwind and re-energize. A private place to gather my thoughts and prepare myself for the world.
I wish you all a productive and healthy week ahead.
Ps: Feb 10, 2009: Sorry for the jumbled up sentences and the edited content. Some of the text I wrote didn’t even make it to the post. I realize blogging when under strong pain medication isn’t a good idea. I had my wisdom teeth removed on Friday and have been on some heavy duty painkillers. The surgery went well and I feel great. Just not great enough to put a logical post together. Sorry!
