I was out all day today finally crossing off an item that has been on my to-do list FOREVER! Go see a doc. part of the “take better care of myself” new year resolution; get routine medical check-ups and stay healthy. I am terrified of needles and end up procrastinating seeing a doc until I have to. I overcame some of that fear and went for it. Mostly because it makes sense to get all this done while I have the time.
While waiting in the ridiculously SLOW lines, I was replying to emails, and blog surfing via my iphone {almost wishing I had not changed my mind about bringing the macbook} when I found photographer mark burstyn’s portfolio over at dti. Where I spend A LOT of my time : -) oh and a belated happy birthday kim. stay awesome.
Mark’s interior pictures are an instant pick-me-up. I love the composition, the styling and of course his versatility as a photographer.
Enjoy!

I just found out what a bolero is and love/want this gorgeous one!

sorry for the lack of posts today. i took a break and faced up the horror that was my closet! i spent all day sorting and organizing my clothes. some from 8 years ago. that i wore once! {in the changing room}. no wonder i had zero space for the fifteen percent of my wardrobe that i do wear. i am guilty of being too attached to my clothes and have held on to some EIGHT years more than i should have! additionally guilty of never putting away my clothes either. seriously, how long can you go one justifying adding chairs to the room?
finally motivated myself to get around to doing something about the piles of my clothes everywhere! i quit procrastinating and ditched the ” if only i had more time” excuse and got right down to it. turned up the tunes. and started from the ground up. emptied out my dresser and closet. every little corner and piled it all up in the center of the room.
i ended up really enjoying it. said my final goodbyes to some and came up with some design ideas to tuck in the others. all this while designing /plotting ideas to best use the dressing area in our bedroom. more on that later. I also organized my accessories and shoes. productivity, is my new name!

On 2modern’s design talk today, I talked about a fascinating architectural project in New Orleans. I just HAD to share it here too.
NOAH, {New Orleans Arcology Habitat} is a 30 million square foot GINORMOUS building that will float on the Mississippi river. Arcology, is an off spring of architecture and ecology, essentially a mega city housing a vast population. This pyramidal hyper-structure is part of the rebuilding of New Orleans and intends to promote sustainable and green living within itself. It will be encompass 20,000 residential units 1,500 timeshares, 3 hotels, parking for 8,000 cars, cultural spaces, public works, schools, an administrative office, and a health care facility.

NOAH has been specifically designed to withstand the hurricanes that the area is susceptible to. The floating base and open wall architecture allow severe weather winds to blow through the structure and minimize passing interference. Eco-friendly elements include secured wind turbines, fresh water recovery and storage systems, a passive glazing system, sky garden heating/cooling vents, grey water treatment, solar array banding panels, and river based water turbines.
HOW FREAKING AMAZING IS THAT? I wonder how long it will take from start to finish. Oh and how long it will take the UAE to build a similar one?
