happy fathers day

by manvi on June 20, 2010 · 3 comments

Happy Father’s Day. To all fathers, and especially to my loving dad. It is hard being far away from you and mom and i miss you very much. if you lived closer, this is how i imagine we would celebrate the day.

How did you all celebrate? I am jealous of those who live close to their family, so I hope you  make your fathers feel special today.

For those who are separated, do you find it hard to be away from loved ones and family? How do you celebrate holidays like this?

Thank you so much for your sweet comments about my injury. You are all truly awesome!! I feel a little better in that there is pain only when I move my arm. My appointment with the specialist is on thursday and I hope to get some good news, like Im magically healed.

As promised, here are more pics from my washpo express shoot. My inspiration for this summer tabletop, lovely pinks and lilacs fresh from the farmers market.

me in action…

Starting the meal off right with fresh raspberries paired with a crisp glass of champagne.

i love details and personal touches. I also love to find unexpected uses for things. here, i am using ceramic measuring spoons from anthropologie to hold various types of salt.

The table cloth is actually a scarf from h&m. plates and pink glasses from anthropologie, napkins are vintage from a thrift store, palceholder napkin rings from pottery barn, goblets from target, silerware from william sonoma, ceramic sugar pot from anthropologie and chinese soup spoons and pillar candles from pier1.

would love to read your thoughts on this tabletop…

Happy cinco de mayo dears.

Hope you are doing well my friends. I’m having a fantastic time in Hawaii. Maui is gorgeous! I could really get used to lounging by the beach spotting whales, snorkeling, and sundowners. We went to an amazing sunset sailing cruise yesterday which I totally recommend when you visit.

In addition to more beach action, surfing, a spa treatment and hawaiian-style cinco de mayo celebrations are on the agenda for today. While I soak in more sunshine and avoid more sunburns, I leave you with some cinco de mayo party and tabletop inspirations for you.

margarita cupcakes also a lovely sangria recipe

Rise and shine! Its a brand new spring week. Some of you are probably still enjoying the long weekend or the last few days of spring break.. Lucky you, make the best of it. To the rest, hope you had a lovely weekend/easter celebration. Ours was short but really fun! We enjoyed our sunny garden, admired our blooming flower beds, relished fantastic dinners, laughed with friends under perfect spring skies and even worked on a small home improvement project. Ok, the hubby did, while I assisted ;-) .  This one involves the garden and we decided to give a wasted space there a new look and purpose. details soon my dears.

this is a pic of my easter table. i got these lenox ming teacups at my local thrift store for guess how much….. $2!! some people just dont know the real value of vintage!

have a great week ahead! xo

Happy to know how much you are enjoying the easter + spring tabletop ideas. So here is another creative tabletop that includes DIY- glitter eggs.

Created by Eddie Ross for DIFFA, this blue and white easter tabletop was inspired by a 1970′s pic of Elizabeth Taylor.

Eddie started by selecting a room with a fabulous chandelier..

Then selected a lovely damask patterned tablecloth.

He used about 14 doz real eggs to keep the look authentic. Drilled holes in the eggs with a dremel to drain them, then sprayed on an adhesive, and then using skewers rolled them into glitter. The branches are cherry spray painted white and with silk blossoms hot glued on to add life.

added white tulips and assorted plates and glasses to complete the look….

and voila! here is the final look. isnt it pretty? I love handmade holidays…

sources:

tablecloth – calico corners

dinner plates – royal copenhagen

chinoserie plates – river market

glasses – williamyeowardcrystal and reed and barton

candles – creative candles

candy – cvs ;-)

Have you created any spring or easter inspired decorations yet? I would love to share them here if you have.

Im in love with the soft blues, pinks violets and golds combo for my decorations. My mother-in-law is visiting us for a few days so we will plan a small easter meal with her. If the weather permits, I would love to have it outdoors.

Love the baby blue eggs and they would make perfect centerpieces in on this table.

A friend was on the look out for alice in wonderland theme ideas for her baby shower. While these ideas are for a kids birthday party, some of the details can be easily modified to create an adult version of whimsical wonderlands… ;-)

What ideas to keep and which to switch?

For starters, keep the fine china tea cups.. no grown up “alice in wonderland” inspired celebration is complete without a good china set. Aren’t these pretty?

Keep: the paper lanterns..simply because I love how them.

Add hearts on the tablecloth. You could also design menu cards to look like queen of hearts playing card. It would be fun to place a

Switch: paper flowers for real ones, exotic asiatic lilies and orchids.

Switch: plastic chairs for mismatched wooden or iron ones.

Keep the butterflies and other whimsical objects…

Wow, this got me in the mood for an alice in wonderland themed party for myself..

For more birthday party images visit HWTM. Jen’s blog is forever packed with inspiring celebration ideas.

tabletop; lets go outside

by manvi on March 10, 2010 · 5 comments

Gorgeous weather for the last few days gave us a chance to spend time in our yard again. I cant tell you how much I have missed lounging in our yard. My little tulips are springing, and so are the Iris plants, among others. While at home depot yesterday, I bought some more herbs and flowers and planted them in lil jiffy pots. I will wait another month before planting them outside. So excited to have my garden back!!

Being outside and soaking in sunshine had me planning backyard soirees. Here are some lovely tablescapes to steal ideas from.
