inspiration boards

After this and this post last week, you probably thought I was done with the blue posts for a while. I thought I was too. Until I came across la plage by ralph lauren.

The nautical, saturated blues paired with golds, tans and other neutrals had me going again…

This palette not only beckons summer but it is also really versatile. Glam it up with gold or go casual with tans. Or bring them all together for an urban chic look.

Happy hump day dear readers. For those of you on the east coast, hope you are staying warm and safe. Here in the DC area, its been snowing non stop since last night. The area is pretty much at a standstill. Apparently this is the most snow we have had for a long time. I find everything covered in snow pretty inspiring. A great excuse to stay in with a warm fire keeping us cozy and get those creative juices flowing. I created a valentine’s day mood board using a lovely minty green fabric that I got a few days ago in combination with a soft pink.

Inspired by my Christmas decor this year, I am drawn to shades of greenish blues; aqua, turquoise, tiffany blue, mint etc. And I am seeing it everywhere.

One of my fav places to go for inspiration is style me pretty. I just cant get enough of the creative ideas, tabletops, invitations, wedding pictures and mood boards that Abby puts together for us. I was on the hunt for tabletops when I came across this wedding inspiration board. This board was the winner of From Inspiration to Reality challenge #2. I cannot wait to see the pics from the shoot later this month.

How was your weekend my dear friends?

We had a FANTASTIC housewarming party and are thankful to all our friends who came to celebrate with us. We partied into the wee-hours of the night {read: till after dawn}.

I was recently asked by the keybunch to guest post while they celebrated their blog anniversary. This is what I  was busy working on. My post was related to an Indian holiday/festival known as Diwali. I created a fall inspired moodboard and some decorating ideas. I encourage you to take a look.

While going through Mochatini’s archives, I came across this pic that I had posted back in Feb09.

While I like seeing Andre and Steffi together, I saved this pic because of the canopy bed by the pool. How awesome would it look in my backyard? VERY!!! They are the coziest day bed/ loungers EVER! I first came across one at a resort in Dubai and have wanted one since. They are the coziest day bed/ loungers EVER!

I created this inspiration board using the canopy bed for a glam summer party a while back.  They remind me of tiny sail boats. I pictured guests enjoying lounging in them, sipping mochatinis, party chitter chatter, lanterns and fairy lights gleaming…… The idea of having several of these at our wedding reception for guests to lounge around in had crossed my mind, but I didn’t find a place that rented these in Sonoma, CA. You can view the inspiration board on polyvore.com and look for mochatini.

I saw a similar one from PB at MakingItLovely but the canopy on that isnt adjustable. Having an adjustable canopy is awesome. You can have it up for protection from the sun, and down when you want to enjoy the night sky.  Then I found the Isla Outdoor Canopy Bed {the exact kind that I want} online at PatioProduction for $1600 with free shipping! Its wicker and the fabric is water resistant. yay. I have added this to the LOOOOOOONG list of items to buy when our budget allows!

PatioProductions also has one in orange, but it costs a lot more.

Have you come across this canopy bed from another vendor?

The jacuzzi tub in our master bathroom is functional. Finally! It took us nearly nine months but its done. Yipeee!!

One of the reasons it took this long to fix it was because I wanted a vintage handheld shower instead of the roman faucet. Turns out not only are the vintage handheld showers way out of our budget but they also wouldn’t fit our roman tub. Well not without making more holes to the tub and completely ruining it. OR, as I shamelessly suggested to the hubby, we could buy a new tub! {riiiight! eye rolls!} Anyway to make this long story short, I agreed to go with the roman faucet. And within days we had a bubbly jacuzzi….And its awesome!

So now that the tub is fixed, it’s time to look at the rest of the master bathroom. I made a list of the things I want to change/add.

  • Replace the {relatively new, but boring} sink and the vanity.
  • Add a glass door to the walk-in shower.
  • Add a skylight to the shower.
  • Add a towel/supplies storage armoire with glass doors.
  • Replace the tile on the tub platform with marble.

I started to collect inspiration for the decor and overall feel a while back.

I’m into vessel sinks and would like one in natural stone.  Actually make that two – a his and her. When researching I came across tradewindsimports.com. The website isn’t great, but their prices are! AND they have a clearance sale on the vessel sinks!

I like this travertine vessel sink and for $125 its a fab deal! Don’t you think? I also saw some vanities that I liked but they seem a little out of my budget. Since Im in no rush, I am going to keep looking. And will keep you all posted on the progress. Blogging about all this helps keep my research, thoughts, inspiration and progress in check.  Happy hump day!
