Hello dears, today’s guest post is by the newly married Jen Ramos of Made by Girl. Congrats Jen!

Jen is the owner of Made By Girl, and Im sure you must have seen her pretty LOVE and BLOGS and COFFEE posters. Jen recently gave her home office a fantastic makeover that she, like me, shares it with her husband. I am always on the look out for spaces that are not only stylish but also work for a couple, which is why I knew I had to ask her to talk to us about it.

Here is a before pic -

So without further delay, here is jen talking about her office makeover.

Home office makeover

Hello, im Jen Ramos… Author of Made By Girl blog. I’m currently the owner of an online shop called Made By Girl. There you will find a fun & colorful collection of cards & screen prints to send to your friends or decorate your home! Feel free to visit my blog for the most inspirational interior spaces, my DIY projects and so much more!

The reason I decided to re-do my office was because I felt it wasn’t as inspirational to me or my work anymore.

I really needed to accentuate the large windows in my office and getting the curtains helped do just that.  It looks & feels brighter making the outside appear as though it were indoors.
My inspiration came from various work spaces I saw on blogs.

I gathered about 10 photos of work spaces that inspired me & just headed in that direction with the renovation.  Paying attention to every detail, like how many shelves would be just enough for my books, the placement of my inspiration board as well as which direction the desks would be facing.

I even drew everything out on piece of paper (prior to the renovation) to get a better feel of where each item would be placed & how it would fit together.

My goal was to accomplish a brighter, more stylish and roomier space……I think I’ve achieved that & am extremely happy with the results!

Some of you might have seen the work of burham designs, an interior design firm based in Los Angeles, in the latest issue of Lonny Magazine. Burnham design is headed by Betsy Burnham who confesses she is addicted to accessories, loves menswear-inspired fabrics and fervently believes in mixing thrift with couture. Just the kind of style I am into.

I thought you might like to see a few stylish interiors from their portfolio.

a bit on the darker side for me, i like the chandelier in this home office.

mmm. i’d love a tiny flat screen in my bathroom

Love the color palette and style of this room. and doesnt that little pop of red from the chandelier add that ooomph?

If you’re shopping for design/ decor help, check out instant/space. Instant/space is an alternative service from burnham design, which offers clients do-it-yourself custom-designed spaces for a reasonable fee.

Sorry I have been a bit slow on this monthly feature. Its been a really busy week. I have been working on creating new blogs for friends and clients. ps: If you would like a blog, banner and buttons designed, please keep me in mind. I offer very reasonable package options starting at $60. I am setting up a site dedicated to this but until then if you are a new blogger or just looking to refresh the look and style of your blog, email me mochatiniblog{at}gmail{dot}com.

Now, back to inspiring interiors. This eclectic living room was featured in the latest issue of lonnymag.

Designed by betsy burham for a client, I love the unexpected pops of color and the accessories used which add so much character to the room. And I want the GORGEOUS hermes tray!

I am getting a bit tired of seeing all white rooms everywhere, arent you? With spring (slowly) approaching, I am excited to play around with more colors.

Slightly serious for my taste, I like color palette in this living room. The greyish blue rug and cushions with earthy browns all harmonious brought together by the painting I also like that the chairs are on casters allowing hassle-free rearrangement.

The first thing that caught my eye about this chic living room was the beaded silver throw cushion on {left corner of} the couch. I have the exact same ones on my couch. I found in them on my last trip to New Delhi. I also have a black and white throw cushion similar the one of the far right corner, as well as a similar couch and coffee table. That got me thinking about how easy it would be for me to recreate a similar look for my living room. I love the pairing of a cool color like grey with warm mustards and creams and mixing in black and white. And how stylish is the barbara barry cocktail table? It makes for an inviting yet chic social area dont you think?

ohh! I enjoyed your comments on the living room featured yesterday. I cant imagine that room working for many.

A sharp contrast to that in every way, what do we think about living room dolls?

While a bit dark it somehow works for the space. dont you think? I especially like the round moroccan tray table and the rugs.

I was going to start with another living room but decided to hold off on that one for a bit.

This upper east side living room is not the kind of style I usually blog about. It takes itself a bit too seriously and while I like the pops of orange, I still feel it lacks character. Its not just the monochromatic furniture, all the pieces are stylish. I guess I find it elegant but slightly boring. I dont mind the monochromatic furniture because most of the pieces are stylish. It doesnt seem like a fun room to socialize, I would be worried sick of spilling or staining. It also needs a shot of energy.

I would love to spend time reading in such a room though. What do you think?

I didnt plan on posting mostly white entryways. What can I say? I seem to be naturally drawn to them. You dont want to hear bright or white or fresh anymore so I wont say it. I’ll say Dutch instead. This mod rustic entryway is from the portfolio of Dutch photographer Jeltje.

Great use of the glass apothecary bottles. And isnt the vintage milk can gorgeous? I like the casual framing of the photograph too.
