hello back-to-school-monday

by manvi on August 30, 2010 · 3 comments

Hello first-day-back-to-school Monday.

I hope you had a great weekend, were able to relax and enjoy sunshine wherever you are. We had a gorgeous sunny weekend here in DC so we decided on a spontaneous crab lunch trip to Annapolis. Maryland boasts some of the most delicious crabs. Thanks Ally and Jane for tips on how to get rid of crab smelling hands. Lemons did the trick.

Other highlights from our weekend included:

- A tweet up organized by beautiful Maryam from Marrakesh. It was awesome to finally meet Maryam. She is even lovelier in person. The tweet up, was at charming Vinoteca (highly recommend the tamari “reserve”from mendoza, argentina) and was a cheerful gathering of wonderful peeps. A shout out to Christie, Andrea, Brandie, Nole, Kaydee and Bill. It was a pleasure to connect with you all.

- And shopping for goodies from the Takoma Park farmers market. I really look forward to farmer’s market on weekends to score fresh treats. This weekend I put together a small spread of kalamata olive bread, strawberry-peach jam and chevre goat cheese, and bellinis. Perfect outdoor picnic.

- I also found these cute lavender sachets at the market for my lingerie drawer. These little sachets are easy to make using left-over fabric and filled with lavender (or other potpourri) would make great hostess gifts.

Oh and I realized I hadnt shared my new lamp (Cyan via GiltGroupe) with you. Isnt she pretty? Initially, I wanted her in our masterbed room, but I think she feels more at home in the dining room, dont you?

Have a happy week ahead.

ps: giveaway winner – coming up next.

and hellos to you. did you have a good weekend?

hope these pretties help your monday blues. they did mine.

did i mention i have a HUGE fallen branch in my yard? I’m amazed it didnt cause any damage. Its going to be a big pain to take care of it. in other news, we lost power for about ten seconds during the short storm that hit this area yesterday. Lots of homes and businesses lost power for hour and there were fallen branches, leaves, trees on streets. Did your area get any part of the storm?

Have a great week my friends.

hello monday

Breakfast in bed can be addictive. I can’t think of a better start to a new week. Especially, when you have a day off from work.

Did you have a fun 4th of July weekend? Did it involve grilling, beverages, friends, and fireworks? Ours certainly did. We watched a couple of movies too, remember me and alice in wonderland. And gave our bedroom a facelift. The wall paint had started to make the room look tired so we started by painting the room. The color pallete I have in mind is tiffany blue + salmon + chocolate and want to mostly use things we already own. I had been carrying an old tiffany jewelry pouch to stores, looking for the special aqua-mintish shade for our bedroom walls. I found a close match at home depot and went with cool jazz, behr premium. The results are fantastic, and very refreshing to wake up to.

We are back from a nice vacation in St thomas. Soaked in lots of sunshine, went sailing and snorkeling and enjoyed picturesque views. Pics will be up soon. How was your week? My collarbone is healing nicely, still very painful but at least life is somewhat back to normal. Expect regular posts next week.

Will any of you be watching the world cup? I love football (soccer) and am so excited for the matches. Hope you all have a super weekend. xoxo

Last, and in no way least, this tabletop was my favorite from the washpo Express shoot. A practical, nature-inspired tabletop for dining al fresco.

Trays in place of placemats make it easy to carry plates, silver and glasses and will stay put when its windy outside. Since we switched to a smaller table for the shoot, I had to do away with the trays as well as a small stree stump that would serve as a stand for succulents.

Silver bowls from india, cheese board and burlap runner from pottery barn, lion head soup bowls from william sonoma, steak knives from fishes eddy, napkins are from targetm the plates are vintage from a thrift store, and butterfly print tablecloth is hand made by me.
