Remember this pic? We took it on a lovely Estancia just outside of Buenos Aires.  For those of you planning a trip to Argentina, I highly recommend visiting one.

What is an Estancia you ask? Much like an American ranch, it is a beautiful countryside estate. Many have historic castles some of which have been converted into guest houses. Some have cattle and gauchos (cowboys) but mostly all have horses. Expect some great bbq (parilla) lunches and dinners.

When our friends in Argentina initially suggested spending the day at an Estancia, we were not too sure. What would we city folks do on a quiet country ranch? But we decided to give it a go anyway. The recommendation was to go on week day to avoid weekend crowds. With so many options to chose from we went with Estancia La Candeleria, spotted in TimeOut Buenos Aires. This Estancia is about two hours (more during rush hour traffic in the city) away from Buenos Aires and the best option is to rent a car and drive there. La Candeleria’s website has an interactive map to give you a better idea of the drive. Depending on availability you can opt to spend the night in one their quaint guest rooms.

We couldnt have picked a sunnier Thursday morning for our day-trip there.

I was instantly in love with the place. Green fields, gardens stretched for miles and miles.

Breakfast was first on the agenda. Then we took a tour of the historic castle on the estate.

I loved the paintings on the bed and the nightstands.

With a chapel, huge tented ballroom, large grilling area and helpful staff on the property the estate is perfectly suited and equipped for weddings and other social events. In fact they were prepping for a wedding when we were there.

Breakfast, lunch and tea time at the salon criollo are part of the day trip package. You can also bike, go horseback riding, get a massage treatment, and on weekends watch a polo match. They also have clay tennis courts and a pool.

The local wines are sooooo good.

So my dears, here is a round up of our day-trip to La Candelaria. How do you like it? Sorry for the insane number of pics in this post. I had to sort through about 300+ of just this day. Now you can imagine how many pics I must have in total from this trip.

Days like today remind me that winter is almost here. Cold, rainy and lethargic. The kind of day when you cant seem to get anything done and feel drained of energy.

Did I mention that I havent fully unpacked from my trip? I really procrastinate when it comes to putting away my clothes, as you might know.

To get me going I usually unpack my shopping first.

Meet my new sheepskin rug and throws. They go on my desk chair and couch.

And my new hide rug. This time I went for a zebra print.

Unpacking them inspired me to play with them. Which then inspired me to rearrange my living room. Yes, again!

I think the new layout is better suited for cozy winters. The slip cover for my couch and dining chairs are from Bemz.

Its been an exhausting day in many ways. I also think I might be coming down with a cold or something.

Thinking of making a fire in the fireplace.

Followed up a a hot relaxing bath.

And then cozy-up in bed with a few good mags.

I bought so many in Argentina and have yet to flip through them all.

So I’m calling it an early night. You have been a quiet bunch lately. All good? How are your holiday plans going?

In other news – Price William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement.

I thought it was touching that William proposed with his mothers sapphire engagement ring. Though I really really wish he doesnt treat Kate like Charles did Diana. The wedding is set for next year but already I can see speculations to details of the wedding, Kates dress, nail polish, shoes and more. Totally loveing Kate’s style sense and as a huge fan of (super stylish) Princess Di,  I’m totally excited for this royal wedding.

Yesterday we spent the day at a beautiful estancia, a large rural estate, just outside of Buenos Aires.  Under sunny skies we rode horses, toured a castle, saw gauchos and lazed around on the grounds of the gorgeous estate. Of course, there was plenty of food and wine in between. I took lots of pics for you but for now here’s a sneak peek.

After several days of sunshine, I guess its only fair that it is raining today. Good thing I decided to pack my wellies.  What’s new with you my dears?

One of the cities I dream of spending more time in is Buenos Aires. This charming city boasts awesome food and stylish homes. So it should come as no surprise that the home of Ralph Lauren model and polo star nacho figueras was featured on elledecor recently. Reflecting figueras modern style, the interiors are a sophisticated mix of bold art, sculpture, designer pieces mixed with flea market finds. The house designed by architect juan ignacio ramos overlooks a polo fields.

the painting is by figueras, the chaise by le corbusier and arm chair marcel breuer. Mixing flea market finds and designer pieces creates a unique and classy look.
