happy tree trimming weekend + call for holiday gift guide submissions

I have been meaning to go tree shopping all week but between back-to-back styling projects and meetings I just haven’t found the time. After attending the West Elm and Etsy handmade holiday workshop last night {such a fun + creative bunch} I simply cannot wait any longer. I really wanted to get a live one that I could plant in my yard after but it wont get here in time; will have to order in advance next year. So this weekend I am clearing my schedule and am going to bring home a 8′ fraser, get a few friends together and have a tree trimming party. With lots of bubbly and one of my favorite holiday movies, Love Actually in the back, of course. Plan to make things extra special this year, after all it IS Dexter’s first Christmas.

I will also be putting together holiday gift guides and thought why not ask you stylistas for your favorite picks. Especially from your local go-to boutiques and stores. Would be great if we could get a good mix of picks from around the globe. Send me 5-7 gifts that you would either love to get or gift. A simple collage with links to my email: mochatiniblog (at) gmail (dot) com. Each guide will link back to your blog/Etsy store or website. Cant wait to see your selections so send them to me asap.

What are you looking forward to this weekend? Have you been braving the malls or doing most of your shopping online? Have a splendid weekend and dont forget to send me your holiday gift guides.

hello monday + inspiration from toast

Happy new week to you friends. Today Im feeling inspired by these images from Toast’s winter/holiday catalog.

How fun {and easy} is this ornament garland? I am so going to DIY a couple of these.

And the bell garlands around the fireplace are so cute. Would love to make these too. Wonder where I can find loose bells. Anyone know?

Storm lanterns add a lovely “old-world” touch dont they?

How are your holiday preps going?

happy diwali + holiday decor ideas

Today is the festival/holiday of lights, Diwali. Mostly celebrated in Northern India, it is a FUN holiday with candles, twinkling lights and firecrackers. In our casa, Diwali officially marks the start of the holiday season and you know what that means….fairy lights, and holiday decorations are in full swing…

Even if you dont celebrate Diwali why not light a couple of candles in your home tonight? They are supposed to welcome good fortune in your homes and who doesnt love the soft glow of candle lights? Dont have any fancy candle holders at hand? Throw in tea lights in assorted mason jars, water tumblers, tea cups or wine glasses and arrange them on your mantle/dining table/front porch etc.

I love these hanging bubble candle holders (below) from CB2. Arent they festive? I am so getting these for my living room as part of my holiday decor.

How do you decorate for Diwali?

xoxo
